ERA UK Regional Directors
As reported before, the response to our request for ERA Rider Reps was fantastic with more than 30 applicants for the five regions (mapping onto the BE regions of Scotland & The North, Central North, Central West, East and South). We are now going through a process of interviewing each of the applicants which we hope to have completed by the end of September, after which, we will be announcing who will represent ERA in each of the regions.
We will also be changing the term ERA Rider Rep to ERA Regional Director (to avoid confusion with the current Rider Rep system at events) plus we will be appointing a ERA Regional Controller who will have overall responsibility for all of the Regional Directors. In conjunction with the appointments, we will also be defining exactly how the Regional Directors will work, how they can be identified at events and what they can do for you, the rider. All of this will take time, so the plan is to have all of this in place and ready to go for the start of the 2011 season.
To those of you who have applied for a Regional Director post, thank you. We will be in touch with you soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions then please email the ERA UK Secretary at secretary@eventridersassocaitionuk.org.
Regional Directors
ERA Regional Directors are passionate about eventing and they want to see the sport move forwards. Each of them has volunteered for the role on the basis it gives them the chance to put something back into the sport they love. They represent riders of all levels, from BE80 riders to Advanced, from single horse amateurs to professionals. They all invest considerable time in ERA and, as the first point of contact for members in their region, they are naturally approachable, acting as the liaison between members and the board, ensuring that the region’s voice is heard.
